Designs to achieve a mix of modern vibrancy and traditional styles
I am Julia Neumann, a graduate of FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising with a Bachelors of Arts in Professional Studies specializing in Theater Costume Design and an Associates of the Arts in Fashion Design. I am skilled in design, garment construction, fabric manipulation and crafts. I have a range of knowledge in areas such as film and costume.
My inspiration comes largely from my love of Japanese culture, animation, and movies, among other interests. My interest in Japanese culture started when watching shows such as Pokemon and Sailor Moon when growing up. This interest expanded into learning more about the culture and being fascinated by the tradition garments such as kimonos. While learning at FIDM I learned more about historical costumes and the history behind them. The different use of silhettes and techniques has inspired me to try and incorporate those details in more modern garments.
